Very warm packs up very nice
Great down hoodie for camping in the summers so far. Gets pretty cold at night where I’m at and this keeps me toasty when there is fire restrictions in place.

Awesome jacket!
This jacket is amazing! Packs down super well, awesome warmth to weight ratio and the waterproof hood and shoulders are so nice. The only major complaint is there is some fraying and loose strands of thread around the zipper and the elastic cinch mechanism. While it's not the warmest jacket on the market, it handles temps of around 40+ degrees pretty well. When not in use as a jacket, you can use it as a small blanket or pillow. In all, definitely a solid choice to have in your gear closet!

Great jacket
The fit is great, loose enough to layer if needed and not restrictive but also not baggy or too loose. Very warm but still light and packable.

I certainly put this item to the test. This down hoodie pulled through some extreme cold and wet snow climates. Overall, it did its job in keeping me warm. I can’t ding it for its functionality as a down jacket. Very packable and warm… what else can you ask for? However the reason I had to go with 3 stars is because after only 1.5 months of wear the outside zipper pocket failed. While I was pushing the limits with this one, I expected more from OR. I am disappointed as their items should be built to last and be of high quality.

Cozy Puffer
Great puffer! I replaced my 15 year old Eastern Mountain Sports (may that brand RIP...) puffer jacket. I love the hood, a feature my last jacket lacked. zippers work well and don't pinch the fabric. I've used this in the desert in the low 20's combined with a light raincoat and stayed super warm. Fantastic mid or outer layer for anyone looking to go where it gets cold. You will like this puffer! Like most puffers, don't let it get wet!

Outdoor Research Helium Down Hoodie – My Most Comfortable Insulated Jacket
This is hands-down the most comfortable insulated jacket I own. The Helium Down Hoodie by Outdoor Research has become a staple in my rotation, especially with the long, cold winters we get here in Bozeman, Montana. I wear it constantly—whether I’m heading out around town, skiing at Bridger, or layering up before a dawn patrol hike. It’s surprisingly warm for how light it is, thanks to the 800-fill down, and the outer shell uses Pertex Quantum with Diamond Fuse technology, which helps it resist abrasion better than other lightweight puffies I’ve worn. That durability makes a real difference when you’re wearing it under a shell, bushwhacking, or stuffing it into a pack on repeat. I’ve also used it a lot as a warmer layer on backpacking trips—it packs down small into its own stuff sack and disappears in the bottom of my bag until I need it. Perfect for high-elevation camps or cool mornings on the trail when you just want something that’s warm without being bulky. Breathability is solid for a down piece, and I haven’t had issues with overheating during moderate activity. Fit is athletic but not too tight—easy to layer under or over depending on the conditions. If you’re looking for a light, warm, and comfortable down jacket that can handle real cold and still pack down small, the Helium Down Hoodie is an awesome choice. It’s been through a lot with me already, and I expect it’ll see a lot more use.

Awesome
Exactly what I needed. Great for winters in Montana and traveling to Alaska. Warm, windproof. Haven’t tested the waterproof ability yet, but keeps me dry in a snowstorm. Will be packing it in my backpack for a wind river trip this fall.
