What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I wore the Foray 3L 3-in-1 Parka on a weeklong Pacific Northwest trip and it handled everything: wet hikes, cold ferry rides, and unexpected wind gusts. The shell is shockingly breathable for how weatherproof it is, and the insulated liner is cozy without being bulky. Together or separate, this system is ready for anything."

We love when a single jacket keeps us ready for rain, wind, and shifting temps all in one sleek package. The Outdoor Research Foray 3L 3-in-1 Parka does exactly that, giving us all-weather confidence with a breathable waterproof outer shell and a cozy zip-out insulated liner jacket. Whether we're facing a rainy morning commute or layering up for a cold hike, this system adapts with us.

Outdoor Research uses its trusted AscentShell Dry 3L technology to deliver waterproof protection without compromising stretch or breathability. The liner jacket is insulated with VerticalX Eco, built from 85% recycled content for low-bulk warmth. Fully taped seams, adjustable hood, and zippered pockets seal the deal for reliable, adaptable performance wherever our day takes us.

Good: Longer than other Forays / Bad: No TorsoFlo

I bought is jacket to replace my old Gore-Tex Foray that started to delaminate after 7 years of use. Lets see how well this AscentShell Dry hold up over the years. So far this is a great 3-in-1 jacket but I'm really disappointed that it lacks the TorsoFlo Venting all the other Foray versions have. TorsoFlo Venting, or at least some basic armpit vents, really makes a difference when you need to vent some heat build up or want to use the shell as a rain jacket year round. I like that it comes as a 3-in-1. This is easier to put on and take off than the Foray and Shadow combo this jacket is replacing. Being able to combine the shell and insulation layer when it gets cold is much more convenient than dealing with 2 separate jackets. I like that it is longer than the other Foray versions The longer Parka style provides better rain and snow protection than the shorter Jacket style. The over all look and color make this great to wear in any setting like work, camping, shopping, or anywhere else. I really like the Ranger Green color over the Hops Green of my Foray that this is replacing. I hope they make a version 2 with TorsoFlo Venting and a stuff sack for the insulation layer.

3-1 all around jacket/parka/rain shell

Impressive 3-1 after wearing out my North Face 3-1 system I have wore for years. Bought this to replace it and I am happy with what my research settled upon. Love the zip out silk liner as a stand alone lite duty jacket,a nd the shell works excellent as a rain cover. This is a great system for a beginner or an expert in the field or out on the town. Size runs true and is a little longer than expected but I did not mind the extra length to cover my hind end.

lightweight, not durable

fabric started fraying within one use. I'll be reaching out to OR to see about a warranty claim. used this during a range day in the rain and my chest rig caused it to fray after first use. otherwise is very water resistant.

Great Jacket

I use this as an everyday jacket for plain clothes LE work in PA. It is insanely warm for how light weight it is. Water repellency and wind resistance is excellent. Excellent balance between weight and warmth. Only downfall is the length makes it difficult to get to a sidearm when zipped up.
