Why We Like The Stratos 34L Backpack
With the Osprey Stratos 34 Backpack, we're ready for any mountainous adventure whether it's hiking, climbing, or backpacking for a night. This pack fits all the gear we need for a day at the crag, food and snacks for a full day hike, or even the necessary equipment to spend a night out in the woods.
We particularly like how this pack's LightWire alloy frame optimizes our load's balance as well as enhances the ventilation system with the help of the AirSpeed back panel. Add that to the sewn-in spacer mesh at both the waist-belt and the shoulder straps, and we're ready to tackle anything in the mountains without a sweat.

Awesome bag!
This is my first osprey bag and I haven’t been disappointed at all. Really comfortable on long day hikes and plenty of features that I’m really impressed with. Would definitely recommend

Long day pack (or light overnighter)
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- Large
The Osprey Stratos 34L is a very comfortable pack. I use it mainly for long day hikes, where I want to carry extra stuff (just in case). Plenty of pockets to help with organization, and a trekking poles holder, which I use quite a bit.

Love the adjustability
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- One size
I appreciate the adjustability of this pack and the size is good for a wide range of hikes. Plenty of bells and whistles for me (average hiker) the hip pockets are truly big enough for your cell phone plus other items you like to keep easily accessible. Looking forward to putting it the test on an upcoming adventure.

I got my original Osprey
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got my original Osprey Stratos 34 in 2017. After using it for absolutely everything it had seen better days and Osprey replaced the whole pack under warranty. I've gotten out with the new Osprey Stratos 34 and it still remains a favorite! This is an excellent pack for climbing, day hikes, and overnighters. I love that it really carries weight well for its size, which makes it much more useful for more technical hikes or climbing than similar sized ultralight packs. The new pack is also much more adjustable than the older version and I found I've been able to actually get a better fit with the newer version. I did several overnight missions with the old version and look forward to doing the same with the new version. There are bottom straps on this pack that allow you to easily attach a tent. If you've got packable enough sleeping equipment its pretty easy to fit everything else inside this pack. All the different compartments make finding things a lot easier than on other ultralight packs I own.

Very good pack
I have used this pack for many day hikes and also the 780 km Camino Frances last year. This is a very nice pack with the adjustable torso length and nice waist and shoulder straps. I was very comfortable all my 34 days on the Camino, I was carrying about 15-18 lbs most days. I love having all the zippered pockets in the pack that makes organization easy. I hope to take it on weekend backpacking trips this year, I think it should be easily large enough for 2-3 night summer trips.

So far as good as
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far as good as said on the web page. Heading to Alaska so should be a good test.

Great pack! Easily adjusted for
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great pack! Easily adjusted for good fit. Intended use was for 25 - 30 lbs of gear and it delivered. Several day long excursions later and very pleased with the pack. Only complaint is with the hip belt pockets - easy to open one handed but nearly impossible to close completely one handed. Minor detail

One of the most well-thought-out
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of the most well-thought-out designed and functional bags I have for short weekend camping. It has plenty of easy-to-find pockets and access to the main chamber. It has good small pockets, which are very comfortable to wear with plenty of adjustments to make carrying the bag while hiking as effortless as possible. Smart bag great name brand with an amazing lifelong guarantee on their products. I look forward to using this bag for many years to come! Thanks for being a bright star in my hiking gear choices.

Some fiddly bits, but versatile
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- One size for 34 liters
I bought this bag to switch from dedicated camera backpacks to an ergonomics-first pack for use carrying camera gear or whatever else. The capacity is ample. The hydration sleeve is not usually available on camera packs. I keep my "everyhike" stuff in the lower compartment and use the upper compartment for whatever I'm doing (camera, drone, warm clothes, food, etc.). The accessory pockets are the awkward bits, sacrificed for weight and streamlining, I suspect. But the weird clip for the upper compression straps that everyone complains about on YouTube reviews are not there anymore they must have revised them in the update. Everything works well now. (Be prepared to make your own strap keepers! They are long!)

Doesn't function as well as the Kestrel 38, not even close.
I ended up walking the Camino Frances across Spain from France with this bag. It was just OK. I used it because I wanted to not use a check bag and only have a carry on. The front pocket is virtually useless when the main compartment is full. The shoulder straps are a bit too narrow. The waste belt is too thin and the side pockets are small and hard to zip shut when wearing the pack. I made it work but, I wish I had chosen something else.
