Why We Like The Merrell Mtl Long Sky 2 Trail Running Shoe
When regularly clearing double-digit miles on trail, we rely on the Merrell Mtl Long Sky 2 Trail Running Shoe to keep our feet and stride happy. The reinforced mesh upper lets our feet breathe easy and dries off quick after bounding through mud and rivulets, while the Vibram Megagrip sole keeps our strikes and toe offs secure with its sticky rubber compound and earth-eating lugs. As we stride from valley to ridgeline and back, the internal bootie keeps our foot comfortably locked over the platform's plush foam that keeps the ground feeling soft no matter what's underfoot.

Here's what customers have to say
The trail running shoe provides good traction and stability on various terrains. Many users praise its lightweight construction, breathable upper, and roomy toe box. The outsole offers excellent grip, allowing confident use on steep declines and technical trails. However, some note the cushioning may not be as substantial as other high-end trail runners, and the upper material may not be as durable. Overall, the shoe is suitable for hiking, casual use, and shorter trail runs, though it may not be the best choice for longer distance running or very rugged terrain.

Good for long hours in hospital
Favor wear while working in hospital. Comfortable and I previously broke several bones in my foot a few years ago. I own multiples of this one now.

Light Weight
I have a couple of pairs of Merrell Mixmaster shoes. I have mostly worn them out having had them so long and I have wanted something from Merrell that was equally light. The Long Sky 2 shoes fit the bill. I don't think they are quite as light but I think they may be a bit more rugged in construction. It takes getting used to the nature of the slip in bootie style shoe but they do cradle your feet well and give very good support and best of all they are very light and that equates to all day comfort.

Great runner, toe box tears open
I love everything about the shoe aside from the poor durability of the upper mesh in toe box. I’ve had two pairs developed huge tears in the toe box mesh, not from running through brush. Just normal trail wear, rest of shoe and tread in great shape.

I've bought three pairs, in case discontinuation
Love the roomy width of the shoe. Love the firm support of the sole (I don't like especially gushy shoes, like New Balance tend to be). Love their light weight. And, I have found them to be quite sturdy. The Long Sky 2 has all the important features you want -- properly anatomically designed, sturdy and light weight -- and none of the gimmicks.

I broke 4 ribs and punctured a lung just as i got these, so results are still coming in. Very comfortable, though mesh tops tend to pick up cactus spines. Grippy on rock, but have just done minor class 3 so far, 5 hikes.
