Moab Speed 2 GTX Wide Hiking Shoe delivers waterproof trail agility with extra room to roam
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"The wide fit in the Moab Speed 2 GTX is a game-changer. It gives me space through the forefoot for all-day comfort without any pressure points. The Gore-Tex keeps my feet dry even in steady rain, and the Vibram® outsole sticks no matter the terrain."
We turn to the Moab Speed 2 GTX Wide Hiking Shoe when comfort, space, and performance are all non-negotiable. With its roomier fit, this version gives our feet the freedom they need for long days on the trail—whether we're moving fast or taking in the scenery. The waterproof GORE-TEX membrane keeps moisture out when storms roll in, while breathable mesh helps regulate heat when we’re charging up the ridge.
Beneath it all, a FloatPro™ foam midsole cushions every step without weighing us down, and the FlexPlate™ system adds support where we need it most. The Vibram® TC5+ outsole grips confidently across dirt, rock, or wet forest floor, and dual heel loops let us clip in or kick off with ease. For all-terrain comfort in a wide fit, this one's ready for serious trail time.

Here's what customers have to say
The reviews for these shoes are mixed. Some found them comfortable, versatile, and durable with good traction and water resistance. However, many reported issues with the fit, saying the shoes were too wide or narrow in the toe box. Several also complained about poor quality and durability, with the soles and components wearing out quickly. Some felt the shoes lacked cushioning and support compared to other models. The reviews suggest these shoes may not be a good fit for everyone, and customers should carefully consider the fit and sizing before purchasing.

Cosmetiacly looks good, but uncomfortable
Width of shoe is good, sole is comfortable, however the toe box is very uncomfortable. Material used is stiff and rough with very thin padding that is basically useless. I have wide feet and the width is good, however the toe box is too large vertically. You also have to pull real hard on the laces to tighten them.

I would recommend this shoe.
Solid Shoe, Great fit, Its a comfortable hike. I do not seem to have as many issues with debris from the outdoors clinging to them. I do have concerns with the connections of where the shoe starts to crease from stepping. So far they have held out and do not seem to show any signs of wear.

Great out of the box
I bought these for an upcoming trek in Scotland where the track is rocky and it rains often. I have worn the shoes 3 times so far and I am liking them a lot. First hike was very rocky with some scrambles - great support under foot and great grip on rocks. Second outing was on level rail trail made of gravel/large pebbles and they once again provided great support and comfort. Third outing was on a chip sealed road and the shoes were once again comfortable. I have high arches and the shoes were supportive for this too. Now, if this shoe can deliver in wet weather then it is going to be a real winner for me and will earn a 5 star rating. I bought wide width due to a Morton's toe issue and the extra room has been helpful. The build quality looks to be excellent.

So Far, So Good
I have worn them about 3 weeks or so. The fit is decent, not perfect (bought them online so was hoping for the best). But they look great and, so far, seem to be waterproof though I try to avoid walking in water with them. Mostly purchased due to working outside early in the morning and all prior shoes I have tried left me with soaked feet from the dew as a result. Happy with that so far. My feet really widen on the outer edge when I walk so that causes the seams to rip from the sole on all shoes I buy. The last pair (I usually buy Skechers) lasted less than 6 months. Some last a little longer but usually not more than 8-9 months. Hoping the Merrell's last much longer. I did put insoles in the shoe to have some arch support (usually do this with all shoes) so they are comfortable to this point. Hoping for the best!

Nice Shoes - Too Wide
Nothing wrong with the shoe other than it was too wide for me. Have always worn 2E or wide shoes. This was my first pair of Merrell shoes and perhaps I need to go to store and try on the shoes before ordering them. I really liked the style and base of the shoe. Will try a medium width in the future.

Great shoes easy clean up
Bought these for the waterproof option because I love the other two pair I bought, one for work the other for casual wear. I just use these obviously as needed. If the price was more affordable I’d probably buy a second pair and just have two sets one work and the other play. I did buy a half size larger based on other reviews and agree that when buying these they do run a half size smaller. So far great shoes just the price is a bit too high to have such cheaply made insoles so four stars. Love the soles they have great traction.

Not worth the money
Bought these because they were immediately comfortable. Unfortunately, the tread on the sole is woefully lacking in durability. After only a month, areas on the sole were smooth. Additionally, the eyelet guards at the mouth of the shoe are peeling off like they were affixed with bargain basement glue. For the price, I expected much better quality and durability. It's only two star because of the comfort.

Great shoes.
We purchased these shoes for my husband wear on our excursions on our cruise to Alaska, which is not until June but he has worn them out and about walking in the mornings and hiking missing. They feel great on his feet.

Too big
Width is fine but shoe is long for a 9.5. This surprised me because I have a previous pair of 9.5 wide and they fit fine.

Returned product.
I’m sure this would have been the same quality as every product I’ve purchased however I ordered the wrong size and had to return it.
