Well worth the price!
I'm so glad I purchased these shoes. A week of hiking on the south end of the Bruce Trail through both wet and dry conditions, rocky, hard scrabble, gravel, steep inclines and declines and flats - these shoes kept me steady on my feet and at the end of the day, my feet were not sore. Very pleased with them.

Great shoe for hiking.
I just returned from a hiking vacation in the Rocky Mountains in Alberta and these shoes were great for hiking in big tree roots, rocks and mud. They are a bit heavy for my total comfort, but nonetheless a very good shoe for moderate hiking. They have great threads and are 100% waterproof.

Great Shoes
This is my second pair of these great shoes! This time I ordered the wide size because i have bunions. I usually have to replace insoles for comfort but these shoes have great arch support just as they come.

Honest Feedback :)
Everything fit well for me. The laces were just a little short, so I bought some new ones to go with them.

Wide width works for me
After a few short walks around the neighborhood these shoes were ready to go. Next was some gravel trails in upstate Washington and finally some dirt trails. They are very comfortable with plenty of room in the toe box which is often an issue for me. I sized up 1 size from dress shoes worn with no socks to accommodate cushioned hiking socks. Excellent light hiker as I hike about 5 miles or less per day. Shoelaces tend to slip and untie so I double knot them.

NOT WATERPROOF
I'll start by saying this is the most comfortable hiking shoe I've been able to wear in a long time. I have bunions and a naturally wide foot so shoes in general and hiking shoes/boots especially have become a challenge. I thought I hit the jackpot with these, and I still like them for their comfort. After a very short breaking in period, I can wear them all day with no issues. No hotspots on my bunions, and enough support to keep my feet from getting too fatigued. I like that there are still half sizes and a dedicated wide width. My biggest complaint is the claim of waterproofness-THEY ARE NOT WATERPROOF. anything above the sole and the black toe cover is not waterproof. Tall wet grass? Nope. Accidental puddle? No. Hike during a constant rainy day or even a surprise downpour? Forget it. You'll be ringing your socks out and the shoes stay we for Days. The good news is after discovering other folks with this issue(it is known in the hiking community), there is apparently a waterproof fabric spray that can bolster the WP claim. But Merrell, please be honest about the limitations of your shoe. (have we all bought defective shoes??) I would have still purchased them, but without the disappointment of a false claim and I could have prepared with additional protection before my first walk through wet grass.

Support, waterproof.
My Ortho surgeon approved of these shoes. The only thing I would change is a bit more padding inside the heel. I use an orthotics insole.. They provide a lot of support.
