Why We Like The Tungsten Tent

After another double-digit mile day on the trail, we clear a spot for Marmot's Tungsten Tent. With color-coded poles and clips simplifying setup and a zone pre-bend construction creating near vertical walls, we're slipping inside a roomy fabric fortress in minutes. We slot our headlamp into the lampshade pocket for a little ambient lighting as we get situated for the night, while the double vestibules give us and our adventure mate each our own dry storage.

great tent!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] On initial inspection I noticed the bag was the pretty large and I was questioning whether I could backpack with it, I managed to compress it pretty small and it works great! The water proofing is amazing if you set up the rain fly correctly and it’s so easy to set up. Would buy again 10/10

Perfect!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Super easy setup and teardown by just one person - a dream with two. Everything is of very nice quality. The fabric feels durable, the stitching is neat, and the stakes didn't bend even after I tried to drive them down into rocks! My husband (5'11") and I (5'6") fit comfortably with a double sleeping pad (Klymit Double V) for 5 days of backpacking. Being able to sit up fully was a plus, and the vestibules kept our packs tidy and dry the entire time. I'm so happy with this purchase!

Waterproof and Extremely Durable Tent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent is extremely durable and waterproof. I have used it over 100 nights, and it kept me dry through all kinds of extreme storms! Not the lightest on the market but more durable than lighter weight tents.

Good, sturdy 2-person tent

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My wife and I use this tent mainly for backpacking with our dogs. The double vestibules are a big bonus and a good place to store boots and our packs. We haven't experienced a storm, but the rainfly seems robust. Although it's still lightweight, I prefer the thicker material as opposed to some of the other tents on the market where the material seems like Saran wrap. This hits all the right marks for us and we expect to use it for many years to come!

Great 2P Tent!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent has held up great the past 5ish years and is always my go to when compared to other tents I own. My favorite thing about it is how extremely quick and easy it is to setup.

Perfect all around Tent

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I was looking for a replacement for my decade-old rei half dome, and this is perfect. It's actually very similar to the half dome. Very well made and durable. It's light enough for a few nights of backpacking, but is also big enough to be comfortable and great for car camping. It's not ultra light, but most of the time I don't need that and im happy to trade it for the extra durability. Easy to setup with color-coding. Highly recommend for an all-around tent. Extra roomy for 1 and comfortable for 2. My only wish is that they would add a few more mesh pockets in the interior for phone, keys, etc. there's only 2-3 pockets

Great Design but Poles Break

The tent's pole snapped on its 41st night of use, with a second crack developing. There are a lot of great things about this tent, but that is simply far too soon for a significant break. My use is backcountry backpacking and canoe camping, but I take very good care of my gear and my poles in particular: always on a pack exterior, never under pressure within a pack. On the one hand, I think the shape, size, features, weight, and value of this tent are great. Until now, I've loved it. But if you have to be worried about whether your poles are going to have multiple breaks in the middle of a trip before you've even used it 50 nights, that undoes all the strong points. I'm not sure if this issue is a matter of low quality materials or if the geometry of the tent design exerts too much pressure on the poles.

The 2016 verson has been great

As I write, it is 2024. I have had the tent since 2016. I use it as a 1-person tent. I average about 45 days a year in this tent. It is not uncommon for me to pitch it, and leave it set-up, for 14 days at a time...this long UV-exposure use is hard on tents. I have had zero problems with the tent. Never got wet, never blown away, no repairs, zippers are still 100%. It is, of course, pretty darn snug if used by two people...but, that's the nature of 2-person backpacking tents, regardless of make/model.
