Why We Like The Garmin quatix 7X Solar Edition
We can't quite commandeer a nuclear submarine with the Garmin quatix 7X Solar Edition, but that's one of the few things it can't do on the water. With literally hundreds of features, this marine GPS smartwatch is specially designed for boating and nautical use—spanning everything from typical navigation, safety and tracking features, waypoint marking, and smart notifications of emails and texts to autopilot control of our boat when we're away from the helm, remote control of our onboard entertainment systems, streaming data (water depth, engine RPM, wind, etc.), and alarms that alert us to imminent tide changes or anchor dragging events. In other words, the watch not only lets us know where we are at all times, but it also lets us captain a boat, more or less. The Solar Edition also includes solar charging, adding days of battery life simply by wearing the watch on our arm as we're enjoying the sea or our inland fishing trip.
That's just a start. The charts and maps span freshwater and saltwater, multi-continent topo maps, golf courses, and ski resorts. Built-in sports apps also include activity profiles for trail running, swimming, running, biking, hiking, rowing, skiing, golfing, surfing, and indoor climbing—among other outdoor pursuits. Of course, we can also access performance and training metrics to monitor our health activity—and enjoy music apps, contactless payments with Garmin Pay, and smart notifications of emails and texts when paired with a compatible device. When our watch and phone are paired, we can manually message our live location to our contacts—or have the quatix send that automatically (in certain activities) with built-in incident detection. There's little this Garmin can't do—on the water and beyond.

Customer Images
Here's what customers have to say
The smartwatch offers extensive marine-focused features, great battery life, and a large, rugged design that is well-suited for outdoor activities. However, some users found the screen brightness too low in bright sunlight and the menu system complex. While it lacks certain connectivity features, the watch is widely praised for its versatility and functionality for boating, fishing, and other outdoor pursuits.

This watch is perfect for more than just boating. I use it for my training too. The solar edition lasts 5-7 days longer than my old nonsolar Quatix.

Great upgrade!
My wife bought this for me for Christmas as an upgrade/addition to the Garmin Approach S62 that I have had for an about 3 years now. I loved the Approach S62, but the quatix 7x is on another level. I absolutely love it!

So far, really nice!
I bought the Quatix 7 pro Solar to go along with the complete Garmin suite I just put on my boat (dual mfd’s, radar& autopilot). While the upgrades have just been completed the boat is now in for painting. So as far as playing with the integration, I have not been able to do so yet. Biometrics work pretty well and and the watch functions used so far are good. My only wish so far is that there are a lot of functions I will not use and wish I could just remove them from the menu.

Capable watch with boat control!
To the best of my knowledge, this is the only watch that provides vessel control. It enables users to manage the boat's pilot system remotely while displaying crucial data like water temperature, speed, and current location. It also excels in day-to-day use and is versatile for activities like surfing, biking, skiing, and more. While it's not an Apple Watch, it offers unique features you won't find with any other brand.
