Here's what customers have to say

The smart scale provides comprehensive health and fitness tracking, with users praising its sleek design and easy integration with the companion app. However, some reported issues with the accuracy of body composition measurements, as well as occasional connectivity problems. Overall, it is a powerful tool for monitoring health and fitness, but the advanced metrics may vary in accuracy. The scale works best for users already invested in the ecosystem who want all their data in one place, while those primarily interested in weight tracking will find it a reliable and convenient solution.

Convenient

This scale has been great. It syncs with my Garmin app easily. My husband and I both use it and haven't had any issues. I would purchase again.

worked great for a year, then fails to connect

Unit setup was easy and worked great for a yr. Now no longer connects to my wifi and the pairing process setup fails on my Connect app. And worst part is that it leaves my Connect app in a weird state where it wont setup other Garmin devices after that with reinstalling Connect on the iphone.

Solid Scale with good data

The Index S2 has been a solid scale for us with good data. We've had it for many years and recently had a minor glitch that caused the scale to be replaced under warranty. The replacement is working just fine. I'm not sure that the exact numbers on composition are super accurate, like most scales that work off electrical impedance, but I am pretty confident that the trends are accurate. Integrates well with the other Garmin devices we own.

Great features!

This is a great scale. I wanted one that showed my body fat and discovered that I love that it shows the amount of muscle I have. It is nice to have a positive goal on the scale. These numbers are good when they go up!

Great Integration, Useful Trends. But Impedance Has Limits

The Garmin scale syncs seamlessly with Garmin Connect and clearly shows whether you’re up or down (and by how much) from your last weigh-in, which makes tracking progress simple. Build quality and connectivity are solid, and for anyone already using Garmin devices, this is a great addition. Like all impedance-based scales, some readings can fluctuate unrealistically (e.g., “bone weight”), so it’s best for spotting trends rather than exact numbers. For an accurate baseline BMI and body composition, you’ll need an in-body scan, which you can often get free at a military base or higher-end supplement shop and then input into the app. Excellent for integration and progress tracking, just don’t expect lab-grade precision out of the box.

Better than Fitbit

This is easier to use than either of the Fitbit scales that I own, but I'm disappointed that this must be connected to wifi. I should have done more research to discover that it is not able to connect via the Garmin app and bluetooth. I live in the country and my only option is terribly slow and expensive satellite internet. I try not to connect anything to it unless absolutely necessary to preserve as much bandwidth as possible. (LPT: when buying a house, don't just assume that you'll have access to decent internet. Do your research!)

Fickle to set up, but worth it when you get it

Important Note: The Garmin website shows this item as FSA/HSA eligible. However, you have to have a doctor’s note declaring that the scale medically necessary for a specific condition. At least that is the case for FSA. The scale is very sensitive when switching between users. The directions are not clear. But you actually need to step off and then tap until you see your name/initials. Then it starts to sync. We also had trouble getting it to recognize our WiFi. I finally just switched to make my husband the primary “owner” and then added myself. Once your figure out the nuances, it’s very convenient and easy to use. I love all the extra data you get from the scale, not just weight.
