What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I took the Expanse Convertible International Carryon on a two-week Europe trip and it handled everything from cobblestone streets to overhead bins. The backpack straps were a lifesaver when racing through terminals, and the organized compartments made it easy to switch from city touring to outdoor excursions without repacking constantly."
We love the freedom to roam without limits, and the Expanse Convertible International Carryon from Eagle Creek is built for exactly that kind of travel. Whether we're jetting off on a spontaneous weekend abroad or navigating tight cobblestone alleys in faraway cities, this bag adapts to every twist in the journey. Its hybrid design switches effortlessly from rolling luggage to backpack, giving us the flexibility to move how we want, when we want.
Eagle Creek equips the Expanse Convertible with durable Bi-Tech Armor Lite fabric to resist wear, and heavy-duty zippers to secure our essentials. The zip-away backpack straps are well-padded and easy to deploy. Its compact size meets most international carry-on standards—so it stays by our side, even in the air.

Versatile & sturdy
Just took 2 of these on 5 flights, and they performed well. They're easy to handle, sized for international travel, and well-made. They were also a great size for petite travelers to wrangle through airports, around town, & into overhead bins.

Very study bag with the right dimension for travel in Europe
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall: This is a great piece of luggage. We took it on a 3 week tour of Europe as a carry-on and it held up well. I was thankful that it fits the more strict European limits for airline carry-ons. Design: I could NOT find a bag other than this one that fit the smaller dimensions as well as being convertible to a backpack - so props there. I really liked the double armed telescoping handle - much more easier to pull than a single handled on, but it does take up some space in the main compartment. The fabric and zipper are sturdy - held up to packing it tightly. Liked the different compartments. Backpack straps VERY easy to attach. I didn't end up using it on the trip, but I can see how it could be very handy. I ended up just using the handles which are one the sides to just pick it up and carry it. The construction is very solid over all and feels like it will hold up well. Cons: One of the wheels is making a rattling sound - which makes me wonder how long the wheels will last. And if you're going on an extended trip - you don't want any of the wheels giving out. Ot The design of the main compartment is a little interesting. The sides on the bottom come up higher than the sides towards the top of the bag. Meaning the zippered front cover comes over the sides more towards the top. It made it a little more challenging to pack than a "normal" bag. Cons: I took off 1 star because one of the wheels is acting up - it makes a rattling sound and I don't know how long they're going to hold up for.

Not happy with current Eagle Creek luggage selections.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I returned the luggage to Eagle Creek. The design did not meet my needs. I purchased a second Eagle Creek bag. The second bag got returned. I cannot find a suitcase similar to my Eagle Creek bag that I have used and loved for 20 years. This makes me sad.

This was a little smaller
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a little smaller than expected but was a perfect little Convertible International Carry-On Luggage for our Maui trip. It held enough clothes for a week. The carry on luggage was made with high quality material. It was easy to maneuver and roll as we walked through the airport. No problems at the Security line and it fit easily in the overhead bin. I am considering in getting the bigger size.

Convertible Backpack
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I took my convertible backpack to Europe for 30 days. I loved it. For the first time I didn’t have to lug a heavy backpack. I just rolled through airports. For day trips I used the backpack.

Nice but not good quality
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The design and overall weight of this bag are fantastic. It’s quite cheap and I don’t know how long it will hold up.

So far so good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just finished a shake-down trip with my new Eagle Creek convertible international carry-on. I was able to pack for a 12 day international trip. The case performed well overall, but the limited range on the front pocket zippers limit the utility of those pockets. I also found the handle's three way adjustment a little balky, but it held up well rolling the bag through airports, city streets, and even some rough gravel.

a great, sturdy bag!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just back from a month long trip to South America where I needed to pack for a variety of climates and situations: from extensive day hikes requiring layering to evening wear. I had room for everything I needed and never had to airline check my bag. It is very strong and sturdy. Love the versatility with wheeling vs backpack. Really great and totally recommend.

Great Convertible pack
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have not used it yet, but looks great. I had an older version from Eagle Creek about 15 years ago, this one is replacing that one. A little pricey though.
