Why We Like The Dynafit Radical Pro Alpine Touring Boot

The Radical Pro Alpine Touring Boot has earned itself an esteemed reputation within our Herd because it's meticulously crafted with input from Dynafit's athletes and engineers to function without compromises. Built for the established backcountry skier, this boot utilizes a burly 120 flex and aggressive Radical Pro liner for arcing powerful turns at speed, no matter the snow depth. The HOJI lock closure offers a 60-degree range of motion, encouraging us to extend our outing from two laps to four without thinking twice.

Skis well, walks well.

Really enjoy the single lever walk mode.

Wow

I did not think that any touring boot could fit or perform as well as my old ones (recently stolen :-( ) Then I tried the Dynafit Radical Pro's... Had them fitted with custom insoles by a local wizard at Edge and Spoke in Redmond, WA.... These boots have significantly exceeded my expectations as to fit and performance that I thought was possible... The Hoji walk/ski mechanism is a game changer. One lever transition. No fiddling with buckles and straps. 120 flex is just right. Warm and light. Fit in both alpine and pin tech bindings. My "long tour" skis have Fritsche Vipec bindings and my "resort/side country" skis have the 2nd gen. Salomon Shift bindings. The boots work well in both. Okay, I'm gushing... no, they are not inexpensive. but in this case, I believe that you get more than you pay for.

Walk as good as they skis

I've found these to walk really well, with less friction that my previous 2018 Maestrale RS--plus the one-lever walk mode makes transitions super easy. Heel hold is solid but they're certainly made for medium to wide feet so folks with narrow feet/heels may want to consult a bootfitter prior to purchase. Performance on the downhill is exactly what you'd expect from a burly touring boot. The stiffness feels as advertised and progression through the flex is smooth. So far they've been a dream driving my powder skis through cascade concrete and icy groomers alike. If I had to nitpick, the liners are missing laces which could become a problem on longer tours, although so far it hasn't been an issue.

Wide last helps my 6th toe.

This boot is very comfortable in the wlk mode or while going uphill skinning. When it goes in the ski mode it provide plenty pf stiffness and control.

Amazing boot!

The combination of tech in this boot between the lock system and the flex not usually seen in a AT boot makes it best in class!

Top notch touring boot!

These boots are about the closest I've found to perfection. I have short, wide 27.5 mondo feet. Despite their 103.5mm last I still had to give these things a mild punch on my bunion, but that's where the complaints end. They ski like a true 125 flex (maybe just a smidgen softer than my 130 hawx primes), and are significantly lighter with a far superior walk mode. I can confidently drive my car around a crowded lot with these things unstrapped. Also worlds easier and less painful to get into and out of if you have a high instep. The Hoji switch is the real deal for quick touring/skiing transitions. I love how the ankle ratchet strap really locks your heel into place. This is primarily a touring boot, not an inbounds Alpine boot, but it's still capable of driving my 188cm/110mm j skis in heavy PNW "powder". In form resort conditions their light weight definitely gets a little skittish, but that's not really their purpose anyway. Overall, the best, most well thought out touring boot for wide feet I've ever stepped into.
