What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"This hat has been my summer savior on long hikes. The wide brim and cooling tech make it perfect for keeping comfortable and protected, even on the hottest days."

We rely on the Coolhead III Zero Booney Hat to keep us cool and protected during sun-soaked adventures. Designed with Omni-Shade™ Broad Spectrum UPF 50, this booney shields us from harmful UVA and UVB rays, allowing us to focus on the journey instead of worrying about the sun. The sweat-activated Omni-Freeze™ Zero technology helps regulate our temperature, while the moisture-wicking Omni-Wick™ fabric keeps us dry and comfortable, even during intense activity. A packable cape and an adjustable drawcord toggle enhance its versatility, making it our go-to hat for hiking, fishing, and exploring under the sun.

Did not suit me

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The hat is very high quality -- but it is bright white and very wide, I am uncomfortable wearing it

Making My Dermatologist Happy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using a Columbia bora-bora booney hat for a couple of years and bought the Coolhead III Zero as an upgrade. The brim is a bit wider and seems a little more structured (less "floppy"). I haven't had a chance to test the cooling effect of the omni-freeze materials yet, but i love the overall fit and the sun coverage.

Floppy hat

I was really looking forward to this being my new sun hat. However, the brim is so floppy. The lightest of breezes flips up the brim. It just isn't sturdy

Floppy hat for summer and sun

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good hat for outdoor work. The neck cover is great when the sun is behind and the visors provide great shade. Only issue is if it's really humid or if you're moving around a lot, the edges will flop up and down. Otherwise, great hat for outdoor stuff

Cooling Sun Protection

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Amazing fabric technology, it is cooler to wear the hat in the sun than not to wear it. Very adjustable for my large head. Adjustments are in the right places. Not a fashion statement.

Best boonie

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have two of these. These are the best hst I've found for summer outside work. Wide brim protects face and ears and the back fabric is big enough to protect back of neck but loose enough to allow air flow. I wash mine on the shower by hand they drip dry super fast. The only thing I haven't figured out is after washing to stiffen the brim back up.

Comfort and shade

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lightweight but feels durable. Design is thoughtful and functional. Can't wait to test in the field.
