Underwhelming quality and return credit

First time customer. Wore these Woodchucks for one short ride with standard shorts and washed them as directed once. Significant fabric “pilling” and wear-fatigue at several friction points. Returning process started. Disappointed cause I used a gift card from my son to purchase, and I am not receiving the value of the gift card back as even a store credit.

Seem to be decently made and good fit, but the pad doesn't seem to be placed where needed under sit bones. These have convinced me to stop buying low end stuff.
