NEMO Hornet OSMO Tent
For those in search of an ultralight shelter with greater volume, Hornet OSMO offers enviable living space and comfort without sacrificing its airy weight classification. Ranging in capacity from 1P to 3P, Hornet OSMO™ is made with the ultralight variation of our OSMO™ suite of fabrics, arming it with 3x less wet stretch and a level of water repellency that starts drier and stays drier than the rest. (Even better? With OSMO, we’ve cut out forever chemicals and carbon emissions along with any unnecessary weight.)
Keeping Hornet OSMO extra trim is a minimal pole structure that sets up lightning-quick and pairs with our volumizing Flybar™ and door clips to create generous internal space. Triangulated reflective guyouts and corner struts also increase volume at the foot and protect sleeping bags from tent wall condensation. An overhead Nightlight Pocket™, Gatekeeper™ one-handed tiebacks, and rectangular Divvy Cube™ stuff sack are new additions that add ease and creature comforts, not ounces. With the new Divvy Cube, this tent packs down small enough to fit in the bottom compartment of your pack — with a sleeping bag!

Amazingly lightweight buta few design issues
Pros: - Fabulously light, less than a kg and the short poles allow it pack down small and even smaller if you store them separately. - Set up is easy and quick. - The tent is well waterproof - multiple nights of pouring rain and not being able to fully dry in between there was no leakage. Beware, however, that if you use a ground sheet that is not the perfect size, any water that gets under the tent will seep through the floor because the fabric is very thin. - Zero issues with condensation even in warm rainy conditions. - Two vestibules is nice if you have a lot of gear, especially if you manage to SQUEEZE two people in. The tent is TIGHT for two - two pretty small girls with one small stuff sack of gear each fit in the tent, packs in the vestibules. For one person it is perfect and can fit your pack and all your gear inside. Cons: - While it is advertised as such, the tent is not at all freestanding, and you MUST have the fly attached as the inside walls are tension through a connection with the fly. The fly is tensioned out with pegs and then the inside wall is attached to the tensioned fly which pulls the walls out so they do not sag inwards. This means you cannot set the tent up fly first in rainy conditions and in nice conditions you cannot set the tent up without the fly (no stargazing mode). - The angle of the fly that creates the vestibules are at a poor angle that if there is rain or dew on the fly, unless you are VERY careful as to how to roll up the vestibule, the water will drip from the fly onto and through the mesh inside your tent and wet all your stuff. - The fly clips onto where the main tent inner connects with the poles, which is fine in good conditions. However, in rainy conditions, there is no way to tighten this connection so the fly touches the inner and makes things damp. I found i had to consistently put rocks in between the connection clip and the fly to keep the fly out at a better angle to avoid getting things wet. - To avoid condensation (which works well) the tent bucket bottom is quite low on the doors which can cause a bit of splashing into the tent in heavy rain. Overall, a great ultralight tent but definitely has some drawbacks in terms of design that I wish I had read prior to purchasing.

Nemo Hornet OSMO 2P
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I am huge fan of Nemo Hornet tents. I had the original one, and the the 2019 version with the fly stretching plastic addition. The oldest one bit the dust at a car camping trip recently, the material finally deteriorated and my thumb went through the fly when pitching it. It served long and well and I was ready for its departure. The 2019 model is still in good condition, but has signs of its age too. I decided to move that to the Car Camping and get a new Nemo for backpacking. I just opened the package with the 2025 model, and here is what I am noticing: - The material feels slippery and delicate, but is very light weight and I believe it can be water repellent and less stretchy as promised - The fly and tent are lighter than the older tent, but not by much ( 671 grams versus 708 grams) - The poles are quite a bit heavier now (308g v 218g) - The stakes are the same, and they are heavy. I replaced mine with lighter version and went from 139g to 68g. - With all the components, the newer tent is heavier - The poles fold much smaller, but I don't mind the old length, I prefer having faster easier setup (fewer segments) - Personal preference, but I do not like the colors. After a long dayhike, I want to find my tent easily. The old bright green color was great - not as obnoxious as bright orange, but easily spotable when you knew what to look for. The current color scheme will blend in. - I really liked the cheerfulness of the old color. Even in a rain, everything looked bright from inside the tent, and a lot of light was getting in. - I liked the old pole and stake baggies with bright green strings attached. I would really like them in a brighter color. When they blow away in a wind, I want to see them right away. The new tent's black baggies would disappear too easily I think this is still a really good tent, but it is hard to trade what I consider better for what I consider worse. I actually think the original Hornet 2P was superior to the 2019 version, too - lighter and without the extra plastic extender that is not that important when the tent is used by one person. Hope this helps. I am going to return this one and wait for the Elite to go on sale, or more likely for the 2026 version of the OSMO.
